Code of Conduct

At the Kenosha YMCA we expect our staff, members and guests to conduct themselves appropriately at all times, in accordance with our mission and values and respectful of the rights and dignity of others.

At the YMCA we demonstrate
CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY

  • All participants are expected to show respect for the property of others and the facility in which the event is being held.
  • Participants are expected to behave in a polite, responsible manner that respects the rights and feelings of others, i.e. speaking in respectful tones and refraining from the use of vulgar or derogatory language.
  • Resolving conflicts in a respectful, honest and caring manner; never resorting to physical contact or threatening gestures.
  • The possession and/or use of weapons, tobacco products, alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs, or remaining in the presence of individuals who are using or taking these items, is prohibited.
  • Any behavior that violates any of the laws of the United States or the State of Wisconsin or any local ordinance is also prohibited.
  • Sexual behavior during the time frame of any event or activity is prohibited.
  • Appropriate clothing must be worn at all times. Hats, bandanas, do-rags or any other head covering will not be allowed into the facility. Jackets will not be allowed into the facility. There will be a coat check at the door. Purses will be examined before entering the program.
  • Participants are not allowed to bring iPods, CD players, etc.
  • Fighting, physical abuse and/or verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
  • Any damage to property is the responsibility of the participant.
  • Participants, NOT the YMCA or chaperones, are responsible for all personal items.
  • No one will leave the event before its completion.
  • Participants will respect and respond to any chaperone’s directions, whether or not the chaperone is a YMCA staff member. Chaperones may use their judgment to determine if participant behavior is appropriate or not and take action accordingly.  
Zero Tolerance Behaviors
A participant may be removed from the YMCA by building supervisor and/or YMCA employee for conduct or behavior occurring during the Teen Program which violates the YMCA’s Code of Conduct. Such behaviors could lead the participant to be suspended or barred from future YMCA activities.
