Developing Youth Through STEM

We are helping children reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys. STEM activities nurture curiosity, inspire creativity and teach youth how to succeed.

Youth who participate in STEM activities:

SERIOUS ABOUT STEM (S.A.S.)
Location: Maker Lab
This class provides hands on learning about STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Each week a different project will be done utilizing one or more of these topics. Projects include concepts such as inventions to solve every day challenges, assembling models and doing science experiments. Some weeks a project will be available to bring home. Participants: Min: 5 Max: 12

SERIOUS ABOUT STEM (S.A.S.) for HOME SCHOOL
Location: Maker Lab
This class provides hands on learning about STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Each week a different project will be done utilizing one or more of these topics. Projects include concepts such as inventions to solve every day challenges, assembling models and doing science experiments. Some weeks a project will be available to bring home. Participants: Min: 5 Max: 12

Wednesdays 1:00 – 2:30pm (4 weeks only: May 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd)

INTRO to 3D PRINTING
Location: Maker Lab
For ages 10-17, students will begin with a concept and take if from paper to final project of a 3D object. Several smaller projects will be made as students become familiar with the free web based software used and learn about the importance of supports, fillers and density of prints. Students will also learn about methods of getting objects printed and the difference between types of materials used when printing. Part.: Min: 4 Max: 10

INTERMEDIATE 3D PRINTING
Location: Maker Lab
This class is for those who have taken the Intro to 3D printing and want to go into more depth with what the free software and work with more complex types of filament. Each student will bring in a jpeg of a simple dimensional object or the actual object to replicate in the free software.

MAKER CLUB
Location: Maker Lab
Be a maker. Join us to create all things STEM or 3D printing. This open class time is designed for youth from the ages of 10 to 17 to explore STEM activities or 3D design and printing on their own, allowing them to create a variety from projects. Group projects, such as designing robots, coding and more will also be available during this time as well. Class is restricted to individuals who have taken a prior 3D printing class or on approval by the class instructor. Participants: Min: 4 Max: 10

3-D PRINTING for ADULTS, 18+
Location: Maker Lab
This class offers hands on instruction that supports novices and beginners through the process of developing an idea from start to finish. Students are encouraged to bring their own ideas for a project or invention, and instructors will help them complete developing their idea into a tangible, functional object. Participants: Min: 4 Max: 10
