Water Works Career Exploration Program

DIVE INTO YOUR FUTURE!

The Water Works program is a fresh initiative from the Kenosha YMCA and Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy (KELA) designed to open doors to a wide range of careers in and around water, which covers nearly three-quarters (71%) of the Earth’s surface!

Whether it’s lifeguarding, environmental advocacy, or public service, participants will get a hands-on look at various water-related profession, explore exciting career possibilities, and receive training to become a certified lifeguard.

Career-seekers ages 16 to 24 are encouraged to apply for the 2025 Water Works career exploration program! Complete our application form to check your eligibility and take the first step toward an exciting opportunity.

Accepted participants will receive the necessary certifications and essential equipment—at no cost! This includes swimsuits, swim shorts, goggles, quick-dry towels, swim caps, swim bags, and course materials such as CPR and first aid supplies.

Earn While You Learn

Additionally, students will receive a stipend to attend the program.

Don’t know how to swim? No Problem!

The YMCA’s Water Works program provides expert instruction and covers costs for certifications, including the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and/or Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED First Aid Certification. We also provide swimsuits, gear, course materials, and transportation support based on eligibility—so you have everything you need to succeed.
