If you’re looking for a Kenosha 5K run or walk this summer, the Kenosha YMCA Firecracker 5K Run/Walk, presented by Uline, is one of the most anticipated community events of the year.

Now in its 48th year, this race brings together runners, walkers, families, and local supporters for a fun, energetic morning along the lakefront.

Taking place on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Library Park in Kenosha, WI, this event combines fitness, community spirit, and one of the most scenic race courses in Southeast Wisconsin.

Led by Health & Wellness Director Tenille Thornton

The 48th Annual Firecracker 5K Run/Walk continues under the leadership of Tenille Thornton, Health & Wellness Director at the Kenosha YMCA since 2015. A respected local fitness expert and community advocate, Tenille is known for her dynamic workout classes and instructional content featured on the Kenosha YMCA video platform. Her commitment to health, wellness, and community engagement makes her a natural leader for this long-standing Kenosha tradition.

Now in its 48th year, the Firecracker Run/Walk remains more than a Fourth of July celebration. It is a cornerstone community event that brings people together while showcasing the Kenosha YMCA’s year-round impact on local families.

“There’s so much happening at the Y during the summer,” said Thornton. “This event brings the community together, celebrates the season, and highlights the many ways we support Kenosha families.”

Scenic Lakefront Course

The Firecracker 5K features a USATF-certified course that runs through Kenosha’s lakefront harbor and historic district. Expect:

  • Beautiful views of Lake Michigan
  • A closed, safe race route
